JOB TITLE
Commercial (Interior) Designer
DUTIES & ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
- Plan, design and furnish interior environments of residential buildings + hotels
- Confer with client to determine architectural preferences, purpose and function of
environment, budget, types of construction, equipment to be installed, and other
factors which affect planning interior environments
- Integrate findings with knowledge of interior design and formulate environmental
plan to be practical, esthetic, and conducive to intended purposes, such as raising
productivity, selling merchandise, or improving life style of occupants
- Advise on interior design factors, such as space planning, layout and utilization of
furnishings and equipment, color schemes, and color coordination
- Select or designs and purchases furnishings, art works, and accessories
- Subcontract fabrication, installation, and arrangement of carpeting, fixtures,
accessories, draperies, paint and wall coverings, art work, furniture, and related
items
- Design and supervise the construction or redevelopment of building interiors
- Talk to clients and architects to work out client needs and intentions, and to make
sure that safety requirements are met
- Develop designs that are appropriate, functional and aesthetically pleasing
- Prepare working drawings and specifications for interior construction, materials,
finishes, space planning, lighting, furnishings and equipment
- Estimate costs of materials, labour and time, and give estimates to clients for
approval
- Inspect the work of suppliers and trades people, and maintain time, cost and
quality controls
- Work with specialists in technical areas concerned with fire, hydraulics, and
mechanical, electrical and structural design, making sure that industry regulations
are met
- Prepare detailed working drawings and designs, plans, models and schemes
- Providing samples for clients
- Supervising work at the design stage and on-site
LANGUAGES REQUIRED
Fluency in French and English is a must. Any other language (Portuguese, Spanish) is a
plus.
SALARY RANGE
Between 50.000 and 100.000 € gross p.a.
