Data Warehouse Analyst/Developer
Our client is searching for a Data Warehouse Analyst/Developer to be part of developing a data warehouse to obtain a consistent view of data, across a number of source systems, so that it can be analysed and reported on later. The individual will be expected to take the initiative and the lead in formulating and implementing a data quality plan and logical and physical schema models needed to deliver OLAP cube and reporting business requirements.
You will make sure that the data flowing from one system into the Data Warehouse is robust, consistent and correct. This attracts a wide range of responsibilities including interrogating systems, writing functional specifications, analyzing data, making sure it is repaired, evaluating data availability and preventing potential problems. It is a hands-on role in which you will use SQL and Excel Skills.
Main responsibilities (tasks will include but are not limited to):
· Lead and formulate the online Data Quality Strategy, approach and standards, including working with the business users to define baseline data quality indicators/rules that are sufficient to meet the company needs.
· Working with The Head of Business Intelligence you will be expected to transform Logical business requirements into appropriate schemas and models, that when populated with data, will support OLAP cubes and business reports.
· Data Preparation: Data Profiling, Data Cleansing and Data Auditing
· Responsible for shaping and defining Data Quality Standards and baseline data quality indicators.
· Mapping Logical business and data needs/requirements to physical data stores and attributes to define the data to be extracted and loaded into the DWH.
· Review historical and current data to identify data quality and profiling issues. Learning, understanding and documenting of the current information sources
· Acting as a main point of contact for information retrieval and provide ad-hoc reporting
· responsible for information integrity and quality
· Data Reconciliation and Validation
· Undertake source system data analysis
· Investigate current production extracts as a source for populating data into the migration database
· Define data cleanup specifications and test results.
· Analyse exceptions resulting from testing the extract, transformation and load routines and provide solutions.
· Working with 3rd parties to obtain and interrogate data.
· Leading role in DWH design and build for online gaming
· Involved in defining and implementing and maintaining ETL processing
Requirements:
· 3+ years of data preparation and data cleansing experience
· Knowledge and Experience of dimensional modelling
· 3+ years experience with DWH technologies
· 3+ years experience with ETL processing
· 3+ year of experience of working on Data warehousing projects using T-SQL, Stored Procedures, SQL Server Integration tools (SSIS), SQL Server Analysis Services (SSAS).
· Good Excel Skills and Experience.
· Must be competent in the use of SQL Server 2008/2005 tools
· Experience of building OLAP Cubes that have gone into production using SSAS tools and MDX.
· Methodical in approach and excellent attention to detail.
· Open-minded and able to think outside of the box and provide non-standard solutions
· Capable with multi-tasking
· Experience of mapping and documenting logical data requirements to physical data stores and calculations.
· Experience in Business Analysis
· Good communication skills (verbal & written)
· Ready for periods of high load
· Any business analysis experience would be and advantage
· Additional database experience (Access / Oracle) is an advantage
· Any experience of using data mining in your operations to analyse and compare data values to a set of cleansed data would be an advantage.
Salary is up to 50k plus relocation package
