| Back Office Platform Specialist - Gibraltar |
Our client is searching for a Back Office Platform Specialist to be responsible for the design and technical implementation of back office applications. The back office applications include all management and administration tools that are required to maintain and operate the platform. Those systems include the customer database structure, the payment gateway services, billing and promotions systems, risk management and fraud prevention systems, CRM systems and permissions/security systems.
The Back Office Platform Specialist will play a key role in implementation of new back office releases and ensuring a very high level of reliability is maintained within the back office Platform.
The Back Office Platform Specialist will be responsible for all existing and new back office product new releases from architecture, technical perspective. The job will include evaluation and selection of third-party commercial and open source technology and mentoring of the overall software engineering teams.
Key Responsibilities / Activities
• To take lead responsibility for all current and proposed new back office systems.
• To develop and maintain effective working relationships with key software engineering technical leaders so as to promote an understanding of all key software architectural issues, guidelines and methodologies.
• Architecting, designing and implementing complete back office enterprise applications. The job includes database modelling and data access optimizations. Designing systems based on Weblogic, J2EE, ORACLE architecture.
• Research and implement 3rd party systems to address business needs. Backoffice platform specialist will research and participate in selection/implementation process of new 3rd party systems.
• Communication and mentoring of overall software engineering teams to ensure that new product releases are provided according to adequate quality standards. The job includes providing/approving technical documentation and participation in QA and UAT phases.
• Overall responsibility for back office platform performance KPIs. Making sure backoffice platform is scalable and performing according to agreed service level expectations. The job includes communication and mentoring with the relevant IT teams. Defining procedures and monitoring tools to ensure platform stability and high performance.
• Commitment to quality and the testability of designs.
• Strong emphasis on team work;
• Willingness and ability to use agile development methodologies.
Experience / Qualifications Requirements
• 10 + years experience designing and developing back office platform solutions in complex, high transaction volume environments.
• 5 + years experience developing software solutions in Java based technologies would be highly regarded.
• 5 + years experience in Unix based platform architecture, SUN Solaris in particular would be highly regarded.
• 5 + years experience working with Oracle database platforms would be highly regarded.
• Preferably educated to degree level or with appropriate vocational experience backed up by formal training.
• Excellent communication skills both written and verbal. Ability to mentor software engineering teams to work with architectural guidelines;
• Broad IT industry experience.
• Experience in team management would be highly regarded.
Salary is £50 - £60k
