GETTING A VISA FOR SPAIN

A visa and a work permit for Spain is only necessary for non European Union citizens. But everyone needs an N.I.E number which is comparable with a social security number. A residence and work permit is essential for non European citizens who are planning to live and work in Spain. Non workers and dependants only need a residence permit.

Citizens from other countries who are in Spain for leisure will need a tourist visa, except those from the United States and some of the South American countries who can stay for a maximum of 90 days. All visas can only be given for a maximum period of 3 months.
